A former Mexican flagged tanker that was recently sold by PEMEX, the Mexican government owned oil company. The Mexican government permitted the vessel now known as DE MARZ (formerly 18 DE MARZO) IMO #7383346.

It is now flying the Tuvalu flag, to depart for Singapore to undergo "repairs". Sandeep Mehta, owner of Global Ship Trade Pvt. Ltd., Shipbreaking Plot #69 at Alang, India, is the new owner.

This 1976 built single-hull tanker is not a viable candidate for continued operation. If the vessel were to arrive in India for scrap, Mexico says this would be illegal trafficking and they would move to uphold the Basel Convention.

ToxicsWatch Alliance demands that this vessel should not be allowed in the Indian waters.
