The public hearing of January 29 for environment clearance for Jindal Steel & Power Limited's for proposed Greenfield Integrated Steel Plant at Asanboni, Tehsil Potka, District East Singhbhum, Jharkhand has been postponed through a notice dated January 28 because of a letter from East Singhbhum administration. This letter seems to have been necessitated because of strong opposition from the villagers. The South-Eastern edge of Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary is touching the boundary of the proposed site. Jamshedpur is at a distance of 25 km is the nearest town. The notice was issued by Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board.
