The Ministry of Water Resources has released the Draft
Hydro-Meteorological Data Dissemination Policy (2013) and invited
comments on it from States, Union Territories, related Ministries and
other stakeholders before March 31.
The National Water Policy (2012), recently adopted by National Water Resources Council, headed by Prime Minister, inter-alia stipulated that all hydrological data, other than those classified on national security consideration, should be in public domain in open and transparent manner on a GIS platform. In pursuance, Ministry of Water Resources (MoWR),Government of India proposes to formulate a Hydro-Meteorological Data Dissemination Policy for dissemination of water related data generated by Central Water Commission (CWC) and Central Ground Water Board (CGWB).
